TLDR: If you want your project to be considered GNOME-related, just add the gnome topic to it.
The crawler script uses GraphQL to find issues labeled "good first issue" or "Newcomers" in projects on GitHub that have the gnome topic, logically it doesn't apply topic in gnome gitlab. if you host your project elsewhere we wouldn't be able to catch it at this moment
